Entra ID backup: undo a bad change to your directory

Entra ID decides who can sign in and what they can reach. One wrong delete, a rogue admin or a stolen account can change it in seconds, and much of that has no undo button. storiv snapshots your directory, records every change and lets you restore what was lost.

Why Entra ID needs a backup

Deleted users and groups sit in a recycle bin for about 30 days. After that they are gone. Other objects, such as conditional access policies, have no built-in undo at all, so a deleted or weakened policy has to be rebuilt from memory.

What storiv does

  • Takes snapshots of users, groups and policies on a schedule.
  • Keeps a change log that shows who changed what, and when.
  • Flags risky changes, such as a policy being switched off or a new admin appearing, and emails an alert.
  • Restores deleted users and groups from a snapshot, with a preview first.

What is not automated yet

Only users and groups can be restored from storiv today. Conditional access policies, roles and apps are recorded and alerted on, but you fix them by hand using the saved snapshot as the reference.

Common questions

What is Entra ID backup?
It is a saved copy of your directory objects, such as users, groups and policies, with history, so you can see what changed and restore what was removed.
Can I restore a deleted conditional access policy?
Microsoft offers no undo for it. storiv keeps the policy in its snapshots and alerts you when it changes, so you can rebuild it from the saved version.
