Microsoft 365 backup, stored in Canada

Microsoft keeps Microsoft 365 running, but under its shared responsibility model your data and configuration are yours to protect. storiv backs up Entra ID, Exchange mail, OneDrive and SharePoint to encrypted storage in Canada, so a deleted user, a wiped mailbox or a bad change is something you can undo.

What storiv backs up today

  • Entra ID: users, groups and policies, saved as snapshots with a change log and risk alerts.
  • Exchange Online mail, for the mailboxes you choose.
  • OneDrive and SharePoint files.

Where the data is stored

Backups are encrypted and stored in AWS ca-central-1 (Canada Central), in a folder that belongs only to your organization. The storiv database is in Canada too.

Data residency describes where data is stored. AWS is a US company, so if your policy depends on who owns the provider and not just the region, check that with your own counsel.

Locked backups on Business

On the Business plan, backups are written with S3 Object Lock for 3 years, so the storiv app and your own admins cannot delete or shorten them. The lock runs in governance mode: a separate break-glass role held by storiv is the only way to override it.

What it costs

Prices are in Canadian dollars per protected user per month. Free covers up to 5 users. Pro is C$5 and Business is C$8, with 20% off on annual billing. storiv is onboarding a waitlist first, so check the pricing section on the home page for what is open today.

Common questions

Does Microsoft 365 already back up my data?
Microsoft protects the service and offers short recycle bins and retention features, but it is not a full backup with long history. Restoring a deleted user, mailbox item or file after the retention window is your responsibility.
Is my Microsoft 365 backup stored in Canada?
Yes. storiv stores backups in AWS ca-central-1 and keeps its database in Canada as well.
Does storiv change my tenant?
Backup only reads. Restores are started by an admin, shown as a preview first, and never delete anything.
